GrowFish (2019)
GrowFish - a game about a fish that grows by eating smaller fishies.
I made this game during one-weekend game jam. The first day I learned the Scratch online engine and designed the game, the next day I built, and tested the actual game.

DESIGN GOALS:
DESIGN DECISIONS:
- Infinite gameplay with a losing condition.
- A competitive quality in a single-player game.
- Funny, fast, and light, but with a steadily rising level of difficulty.
DESIGN DECISIONS:
- The Fish needs to be constantly fed to grow. If it's left unfed, the Fish ultimately shrinks and dies of hunger. But in theory, you may feed the Fish indefinitely, growing her ever bigger and bigger.
- This is a sort of "survival" game, where you try to keep the Fish alive as long as possible while trying to score the most combos and avoid the harmful red crabs.
- The player is encouraged to beat their score or the score achieved by other players.
- The fishies swim ever faster with the passing time, effectively limiting the playtime of a single run. This somehow hails from the times of arcade slot machines and Tetris.
